Clearview Varsity Softball defeated Columbia 5-1 on Tuesday.
In the first inning, The Clippers got their offense started. Jarimar Ruiz scored the first run for Clearview. In the top of the second inning, Columbia tied things up at one when an error scored one run for Columbia.
Clearview pulled away for good with one run in the third inning. Madison Pennington batted in Elizabeth Allen with a two out double.
Allen was credited with the victory for Clearview. She allowed three hits and one run over seven innings, striking out 11.
Jessi Morlock took the loss for Columbia. She surrendered five runs on four hits over six innings, striking out 12.
Madison Pennington went 2-for-3 at the plate with 2 RBI’s and threw a runner out stealing behind the plate to lead the Clippers.
Clearview is back in action tomorrow as it heads to Firelands.
