Monday’s game against Wellington was a heartbreaker for Clearview, as they lost the lead late in a 5-4 defeat. The game was tied at two with Wellington batting in the top of the sixth when Payton Regal doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Clearview got things started in the first inning. The Clippers Varsity scored one run on a stolen base.

In the top of the fifth inning, Wellington tied things up at two when Wellington scored on a stolen base during Teddi Hardoby’s at bat. Then Hardoby singled , driving in one.

Regal pitched Wellington to victory. She lasted 7 innings, allowing eight hits and four runs while striking out nine and walking one.

Elizabeth Allen took the loss for Clearview Clippers Varsity. The pitcher lasted seven innings, allowing eight hits and five runs while striking out four and walking one.

Clearview tallied one home run on the day. Madison Pennington had a long ball in the seventh inning to pull the Clippers within 1 run.

Allen led Clearview Clippers Varsity with two hits in three at bats.
Regal went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Wellington in hits.

The Clippers are back in action tomorrow at home against Columbia at 5:00.
