Boys Varsity Baseball · Varsity Baseball Gets 2 Wins on Senior Day

On a rare sunny day this baseball season, the Clippers were able to get two wins yesterday.  Hosting Brooklyn for a double header on a Wednesday afternoon, Clearview was able to celebrate the two seniors in the program (Avrey Cruz and Damacio Martinez) with two convincing wins.  Clearview won 11-1 in the first game and 18-10 in the second.  Kuly Petrov was the game 1 winning pitcher, striking out 14.  Leading the charge at the plate on the afternoon were none other than the seniors.  Damacio Martinez had 6 hits and 7 RBI and Avrey Cruz had 4 hits and 2 RBI.  Tyler Green added 3 hits and 4 RBI and Josiah Moon notched 3 hits and 4 RBI.

Avrey and Damacio will be sorely missed next year as both have been an integral part of the Clearview Baseball program.  Damacio will be attending Franciscan University where he will be majoring in nursing and continuing to play baseball.  Avrey will be graduating this year from LCCC with Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees and will be continuing his education to pursue a career as a Firefighter and Paramedic.  The Clearview Baseball team will be traveling to Bay next Monday at 5:00pm in the first round of the tournament.
