SHEFFIELD TOWNSHIP — The Fairview Warriors rallied in the fourth quarter to defeat the Clearview Clippers, 59-53, in front of a Senior Night crowd at Clearview.
Clearview led most of the game, starting out hot with 7 points from Brooke Rebman and three-point field goals in the opening quarter from Olivia Romes and Samantha Jancsura (her three beat the buzzer to end the quarter). Fairview’s lone senior, Rachel Coyne, had 7 of her own in the first quarter, but the Clippers led 19-13 after one.
The Clippers expanded their lead in the second quarter to 34-25 at halftime. Brooke Remban had 10 points in the quarter for the Clippers, including going a perfect 5-for-5 at the free throw stripe.
Fairview got back into the game in a sloppy third quarter that saw the Warriors outscore the Clippers 11-7. Fairview trailed 41-36 after three.
Fairview outscored Clearview 23-12 in the final period, taking advantage of eight Clearview fouls in the final period to go 7-for-9 at the free throw line. Meghan Weir’s bucket put the Warriors ahead for good, regaining the lead at 52-51 and never looking back.
Brooke Rebman led all scorers with 24 points for the Clippers, while Ariana Vazquez added 13. Rachel Coyne and Julia Costas had 13 each to lead Fairview, while Lindsey Hill added 10.
Clearview falls to 9-9 overall and 7-7 in the Patriot Athletic Conference. The Clippers will close out the regular season with three consecutive road games — Saturday afternoon at Lorain, Monday evening at Brookside and Wednesday evening at Brooklyn — before opening tournament play at East Tech on Saturday afternoon, February 16.
With the win, Fairview moves to 15-4 overall and 12-3 in the PAC.
The Junior Varsity game went to Clearview, as the Lady JV Clippers snapped their losing streak with a 35-24 win over Fairview.
