SHEFFIELD TOWNSHIP — Clearview overwhelmed Buckeye in the third quarter, winning a critical PAC crossover matchup on Tuesday night, 70-55.
Buckeye led most of the first half, leading 20-15 after a quarter, with Cam Imes scoring 8 to lead the Bucks. Clearview’s Jamir Billings had 5 in the first quarter.
Mike Knoll added 6 points for Buckeye in the second quarter, while Javon Todd had 6 of his own for the Clippers. Buckeye took a 32-29 to the locker room at halftime.
It was the third quarter that opened the game. Clearview scored the first 8 points in the first 2:14 of the third period, scoring on back-to-back buckets by Jaylen Paschel, followed by buckets from Jamir Billings and Javon Todd to force a Buckeye timeout. Clearview extended the run to 10-0 on another Todd bucket, leading 39-32.
Buckeye went on a 7-0 run to tie the game back at 39, as Mike Knoll had a bucket and a three-point play, followed by a Brock Brumfield bucket to tie the game. Clearview and Buckeye exchanged baskets to tie the game again at 41, before the Clippers pulled away.
Clearview closed the third quarter on a 15-2 run to lead 56-43 after three quarters. Jordan Reed scored 7 points in the run, leading the Clippers in this stretch.
Clearview closed the game in the fourth quarter. Jamir Billings added 4 points while Todd had 3 more. Cam Imes hit a pair of threes for Buckeye in the final period, but Buckeye couldn’t get any closer.
Javon Todd led the Clippers with 19 points, while Jamir Billings and Jordan Reed had 13 each for Clearview. Buckeye had three players in double figures as well — Cam Imes with 17, Mike Knoll with 15 and Brock Brumfield with 12.
Clearview improves to 13-4 overall and 12-1 in the Patriot Athletic Conference. The Clippers keep pace with Fairview, both tied at 12-1 and atop the PAC Stripes Division. Clearview will be back in action on Friday night with a PAC crossover matchup at Brookside.
Buckeye falls to 14-3 overall and 11-2 in the PAC. Because Keystone lost at Fairview tonight, Buckeye clinched a share of the PAC Stars Championship tonight, despite their loss at Clearview.
Buckeye won both reserve games, with the Junior Varsity falling 49-35 and the Freshmen falling 47-39.
