Girls Varsity Basketball · Girls Basketball: Clipper Offense Hot Despite the Cold in Win over Oberlin


SHEFFIELD TOWNSHIP — It may still be cold outside, but the Clearview Lady Clippers heated up the gym as they raced out to a season high 71 points tonight in a 71-49 PAC Stripes Division win over Oberlin.

Clearview and Oberlin traded buckets through most of the first half, with Clearview racing out to a 37-29 lead at the half.  Ariana Vazquez had 10 points in the second quarter and 11 in the half, while Olivia Romes had 9 in the first quarter and also had 11 for the half.  Karissa Rankin and Victoria Jackson led the Phoenix in the first half, with Jackson having 10 points and Rankin 9 at the half.

Clearview’s pressure got to Oberlin in the third quarter, forcing nine Oberlin turnovers in the quarter.  Brooke Rebman scored three field goals in the quarter, as Clearview extended its lead to 51-38 after three.

Clearview put the game away early in the fourth quarter with a team effort.  Madilyn Love had 6 points, Ariana Vazquez had 6 and Brooke Rebman had 4 more in the quarter, sending the Clippers to the victory.

Clearview improves to 8-7 overall and 7-5 in the Patriot Athletic Conference.  Clearview will host Buckeye in a PAC crossover matchup on Saturday afternoon, with a 1 p.m. tip scheduled for the Junior Varsity contest.
