Girls Varsity Basketball · Girls Basketball: Fairview Rolls to Conference Win Over Clearview

FAIRVIEW PARK — The Farivew Lady Warriors picked up right where their boys teams left off Friday night, dominating the Clearview Clippers 54-19 on Saturday afternoon.

Foul trouble and injuries were the story of the first half for the Clippers.  The Clippers had three starters — Jancsura, Vazquez and Romes — forced to the bench with foul trouble.  Three others — Pennington, Noble and Love — all required trainer’s attention.  Pennington and Noble returned to the game while Love missed the second half with a bloody nose.

Samantha Jancsura got the Clippers going early, scoring the Clippers’ first 6 points before she was forced to the bench with two fouls.  The lead shifted back and forth before Fairview took over late in the first quarter and led 12-6 after the quarter.

With a ten point game at the break, Fairview pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Clippers 31-6 to cruise to the victory.

Clearview falls to 4-4 overall and 3-3 in the Patriot Athletic Conference.  They will travel to Vermilion for a non-conference matchup on Monday night.  Start times are earlier — JV tips at 5:30 p.m.  with the Varsity following around 7 p.m.

Fairview defeated Clearview 37-24 in the junior varsity contest.
